AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/BAe 146/80 Main Landing Gear Sidestay 9/2000
Applicability: All BAe 146 series aircraft and all AVRO 146-RJ aircraft, fitted with sidestays as listed in Messier-Dowty Service Bulletin (SB) 146-32-148.
Requirement: Inspect in accordance with BAE Systems Mandatory SB 32-157.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document for the initial and repetitive inspection requirements, with an effective date of 7 September 2000.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 7 September 2000.
Background: The manufacturer received a report of a crack found at the fuselage end on the main landing gear inner sidestay by the anti-rotation pin. This Directive requires NDT inspection at the fuselage end of the main landing gear inner sidestays.
