SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
British Aerospace BAe 146 Series Aeroplanes
AD/BAe 146/89 Vickers Standby Generator 7/2001
Applicability: All BAe 146 100, 200 and 300 series aeroplane and all Avro 146-RJ70, RJ85 and RJ100 series aeroplanes with Modification HCM01059A incorporated.
Requirement: Incorporate Modification HCM01691A in accordance with BAe Systems (Operations) Limited Service Bulletin SB.24-137-01691A dated 12 April 2001.
Note: This Service Bulletin has been classified as Mandatory by the CAA(UK).
Compliance: Before 31 December 2004.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 12 July 2001.
Background: BAe has reported that the composite armature banding rings on the standby generator have been found to delaminate after prolonged operation at high temperature.
Vickers, the standby generator manufacturer, has introduced a replacement generator with banding rings manufactured from titanium.
This Directive requires incorporation of Modification HCM01691A which replaces standby generator part number (P/N) 520829 with P/N 3022049-000.
