AD/BAL/19 Triple Burner Frame Cross Bar 2/99 DM
Applicability: All Cameron Balloons Limited (Thunder and Colt) with triple burner frame (Post Mod C252/T176).
Requirement: 1. Visually inspect the triple burner frame weld joints in accordance with Part 1 of Cameron Balloons (Thunder and Colt) Service Bulletin No.SB7.
2. Modify the triple burner frame in accordance with Part 2 of Cameron Balloons (Thunder and Colt) Service Bulletin No.SB7.
Note: UK CAA AD 003-11-98 refers.
Compliance: 1. Inspect before each flight conducted on or after 13 January 1999, until modified in accordance with requirement 2.
2. Modify before further flight if cracks are detected during inspection in accordance with Requirement 1, otherwise modify before 20 flight hours after 13 January 1999 or before 13 April 1999, whichever occurs first.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 13 January 1999.
Background: There have been isolated incidents of cracking in the cross bar weld adjacent to the gimbal mounting block location. Left undetected the cracks may cause failure of the burner cross bar.
