COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Beechcraft 55, 58 and 95-55 (Baron) Series Aeroplanes AD/BEECH 55/84 Inspection for Flight Control Interference with Wiring Applicability: This Directive is applicable to the following aircraft: Model Serial Numbers 7/99 DM 58 and 58A TH-1806 through TH-1840 inclusive, TH-1842 through TH-1854 inclusive, TH-1856, TH-1860 through TH-1867 inclusive, and TH-1870. Requirement: Unless previously accomplished; 1. Inspect for interference or inadequate clearance between the flight control mechanism and any component located forward of the instrument in accordance with Raytheon Mandatory Service Bulletin (SB) 27-3232 dated March 1999. 2. If interference or inadequate clearance is found during the Requirement 1 inspection then secure all components clear of the flight control mechanisms in accordance with SB 27-3232. Note 1. If Raytheon Safety Communiqué No 149 dated August 1998 or No 149 Rev 1 dated November 1998 has been carried out no further action is required. Note 2. FAA AD 99-09-15 refers. Compliance: 1. Within 25 hours' time in service after 19 May 1999. 2. Prior to further flight after inspection. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 May 1999. Background: There has been a reported incident were a Raytheon Beech Model 1900 aeroplane temporarily lost aileron and elevator control when the control column became restricted. Upon investigation the cause was found to be electrical/avionics wiring located forward of the instrument panel entangled in the flight control system "T" column.
