AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/BEECH 55/87 Rudder Control System 2/2001 DM
Applicability: Model 58 aircraft, serial numbers TH-1576 through TH-1838.
Requirement: Inspect rudder control system in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Raytheon Mandatory Service Bulletin 27-3265, Issued January 2000; and the applicable aircraft Maintenance Manual or Shop Manual.
Note: FAA AD 2000-24-04 Amdt 39-12011 refers.
Compliance: Within 50 hours' time in service after 17 January 2001, unless already accomplished.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 17 January 2001.
Background: The FAA received three reports of misrouted rudder control cables in which the control cables were routed over the cable guard pins rather than between the cable guard pins and the cable pulleys. This condition could result in guard pin wear and separation or fraying of the cables with loss of rudder control.
