Powerplant Fire Detection and Extinguishing Systems

Applicability: All models 65 and 70 not modified in accordance with Excalibur STC No. SA444SW.
Requirement: Install Powerplant fire detection and fire extinguishing systems which will protect the engine and accessory area in a manner acceptable to the Authority.
Note 1: The existing Hawker de Havilland system to Drawing No. 05-D-567 will require further rework to meet the requirements of this amendment.
Note 2: East-West Airlines Engineering Order D26-20-2087 and HTL Industries kit No. 30180022, in association with John Cameron kit JC-143 installed to EO 142, conform with the extinguishing requirement of this AD.
Compliance: Before further flight after 31 December 1986.
Background: This Amendment is raised to include the model 70 which was inadvertently omitted at the time of original issue of this AD, and to exclude models 65 and 70 that have been modified by installing Lycoming IO-720-A1A or A1B engines.
