AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Beechcraft 90 and 65-90 (King Air) Series Aeroplanes
AD/BEECH 90/100 Nacelle and Spar Assembly Rivets 9/2002

Applicability: Model C90A aircraft, serial numbers LJ-1157 through LJ-1276, LJ-1278 through LJ- 1537, and LJ-1540.
Requirement: 1. Insert Raytheon Temporary Changes TC3 (Log of Temporary Changes) into the Limitations Section of the Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH).
2. Accomplish the following in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions section of Raytheon Mandatory Service Bulletin SB 54-3308, Issued October 2000, and the applicable maintenance manual:
1. Inspect the left hand and right hand nacelle and spar assembly for the existence of rivets, and installed rivets that are the wrong size and/or type.
2. Before further flight, install rivets where rivets are missing, and replace rivets that are the wrong size and/or type with the correct rivet.
Note 1: The Temporary Changes TC3 may be removed from the POH following compliance with Requirement 2.
Note 2: FAA AD 2002-09-12 Amdt 39-12745 refers.
Compliance: 1. Within 10 hours' time in service after 24 July 2002, unless already
accomp lished; until compliance with Requirement 2.
2. Within 400 hours' time in service or within 12 calendar months after 24 July 2002, whichever occurs first; unless already accomplished.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 24 July 2002.

Background: The manufacturer has identified several instances where rivets were either missing or were the wrong size or type on the affected aircraft nacelle and spar assembly.
Missing or incorrect rivets will result in reduced structural integrity and could result in structural failure.
