COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. Beechcraft 90 and 65-90 (King Air) Series Aeroplanes AD/BEECH 90/101 External Door Operating Instructions 4/2003 Applicability: Model 65-90, 65-A90, B90, C90, and C90A aircraft, serial numbers LJ-1 through LJ- 1530. Model E90 aircraft, serial numbers LW-1 through LW-347. Model F90 aircraft, serial numbers LA-2 through LA-236. Requirement: Modify the exterior door operating procedures by incorporating the applicable kit in accordance with the applicable kit instructions as specified in the Accomplishment Instructions section in Raytheon Mandatory Service Bulletin SB 52-3096 Revision 1, Revised: June 2002. Note: FAA AD 2003-02-03 Amdt 39-13019 refers. Compliance: Within 200 hours' time in service or 12 calendar months after 17 April 2003, whichever occurs first; unless already accomplished. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 17 April 2003. Background: Following an accident investigation, the National Transportation Safety Board issued a recommendation to the FAA for improved exterior operating instruction placards on the exterior of the Model 1900 airstair door. Raytheon Aircraft developed door operating instruction placards of improved visibility and legibility for the Model 1900 and other affected turbo propeller aircraft. The actions specified by this Directive are intended to assure that the airstair door or emergency exits can be opened during an emergency situation.
