Emergency Exits - Modification and Inspection

Applicability: All model 205 helicopters. Requirement: PART 1:
1. Install emergency exit decals and release handle covers in accordance with Bell
S.B. 205-75-6 Rev. A.
b. Install spacers to the interior and exterior emergency escape release handle covers in accordance with Bell S.B. 205-77-9.
c. Provide and identify additional inspection holes in the lefthand and righthand passenger door assemblies in accordance with Bell S.B. 205-77-6.
d. Add a painted strip around the cylinder part of each emergency escape locking pin using white or other suitable colour.
PART 2:
Perform the six month and annual inspections of the crew doors emergency ejection system and the passenger/cargo doors emergency escape panels in accordance with Bell T.B. 205-78-2.
Compliance: 1. Unless already accomplished modify in accordance with requirement Part 1, Items a, b, c and d within 100 hours time in service after 31 August 1984.
2. Unless already accomplished inspect in accordance with requirement Part 2 at the intervals prescribed in the requirement document after 31 August 1984.
Note: This inspection may be planned to coincide with the next scheduled inspection nearest to 28 February 1985.
Background: This Directive is revised to incorporate the intent of the following Directives: AD/BELL 205/24 (Cancelled) AD/BELL 205/34A (Raised in Issue) AD/BELL 205/39 (Cancelled).
Requirement Part 2 introduces Bell T.B. 205-78-2 which details a comprehensive operational check and inspection.
