Applicability: All Agusta-Bell AB.206A and AB.206B helicopters equipped with main rotor blades part number 206-010-200-33 with a serial number in the range M3-1501 through M3- 2057 and EM-0001 through EM-0154.
Requirement: Inspect in accordance with Agusta Bollettino Tecnico 206-229, dated 13 July 1998.
Note: RAI AD 98-257 refers.
Compliance: Unless the Part I inspection is already accomplished, before further flight after 7 August 1998, and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 10 hours time in service until Part II compliance. Before 30 November 1998 for the Part II inspection, and thereafter as specified in the Requirement document for the Part III inspection.
This airworthiness directive becomes effective on 7 August 1998.
Background: A report was received of the presence of scratches inside the spar of a main rotor blade between STA 2185 and STA 2855, on a time expired blade that had been removed from service. This Directive requires certain NDI inspections on the upper and lower sides of an affected main rotor blade.
