AD/BELL 206/148 Amdt 1 - Chip Detector Assembly (Cth)

COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 206 and Agusta Bell 206 Series Helicopters

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/Bell 206/148 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) Model 206A, 206B and 206L and Agusta- Bell AB206A and AB206B series helicopters, equipped with Eaton Tedeco Products B3188B and B4093 chip detector assemblies.

Requirement: 1. Unless already accomplished, verify and repair Tedeco chip detectors as follows:

1. For Bell 206A and 206B helicopters - Perform a continuity test and temporary repair in accordance with BHTC Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) 206- 01-96 Revision A.

b. For Bell 206L helicopters - Perform a continuity test and temporary repair in accordance with BHTC ASB 206L-01-119, Revision A.

c. For Agusta-Bell AB206A and AB206B helicopters - Perform a continuity test and temporary repair in accordance with Agusta Mandatory Bollettino Tecnico 206-235.

2. Spare chip detector assemblies may not be installed on any helicopter unless they have been checked in accordance with the appropriate ASB or the Bollettino Tecnico.
