Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 407 Series Helicopters
AD/BELL 407/16 Fuel Filler Cap Electrical Bonding 12/2001
Applicability: Model 407 helicopters, serial numbers 53000 to 53479 inclusive.
Requirement: If not previously accomplished, incorporate BHTC Alert Service Bulletin 407-01-41 dated 23 May 2001.
Note: Transport Canada AD CF-2001-34 refers.
Compliance: Before 31 January 2002.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 29 November 2001.
Background: Transport Canada has advised that inadequate electrical bonding may exist between the retainer assembly part number (P/N) 206-062-304-101, fuel filler cap and adapter assembly P/N 206-362-002-103 and the fuel cell fitting which can cause arcing while refuelling as a result of a static discharge and potentially ignite the fuel vapour.
Compliance with this Directive will ensure the retainer assembly, fuel filler cap and adapter, and fuel cell fitting are electrically bonded.
Eugene Paul Holzapfel
Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 17 October 2001
The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 7 November 2001.
