AD/BN-2/57 Amdt 2
Engine Air Intake Hose 5/2002
Applicability: All BN-2 series aircraft fitted with Textron Lycoming IO-540 series engines and not fully incorporating modification NB-M-1615 "Alternative Air Intake Hose".
Requirement: 1. Carry out a visual inspection of the engine air intake hose in accordance with B- N Group Ltd. Service Bulletin (SB) Number SB 95 - Issue 5.
2. Replace a defective air intake hose in accordance with B-N Group Ltd. SB Number SB 95- Issue 5.
Note: B-N Group Ltd Service Bulletin SB 95-Issue 5 has been declared mandatory by the CAA(UK).
Compliance: 1. Unless previously accomplished in accordance with a previous issue of this Directive, within 5 hours time in service effective 16 May 2002 and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 60 hours time in service.
2. Before further flight.
This Amendment becomes effective on 16 May 2002.
Background: This Directive was originally issued to require an inspection of the engine air intake hose. The requirement followed reports of engine power loss events resulting from failure of the air intake hose. This amendment reflects the aircraft manufacturer's revision of the requirement document. The revision, in part, provides a terminating action. Aircraft incorporating the alternative air intake hose on both engines are not subject to the requirements of this Directive.
