COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Pilatus Britten-Norman BN-2 Series Aeroplanes
AD/BN-2/60 Generator Inspection 4/97 Applicability: All models of Islander aircraft with Mod NB/M/256, 50A generator system installed. Requirement: Inspect the generating system in accordance with Pilatus Britten-Norman Service Bulletin BN-2/SB.229, dated 17 October 1996.
Note: This Service Bulletin has been classified as Mandatory by the CAA (UK).
Compliance: Prior to 27 May 1997.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 27 March 1997.
Background: Britten-Norman advises that some operators have installed 70A generators on aircraft fitted with 50A systems. A 70A generator can cause damage to the 50A system and render the system unserviceable. The action mandated by this Directive will ensure incorrectly fitted 70A generators are identified and replaced.
