COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Pilatus Britten-Norman BN-2 Series Aeroplanes
AD/BN-2/61 Amdt 1
Main Landing Gear Attachment Bolts 6/98
Applicability: Model BN-2, BN-2A, and BN-2B Series and BN-2T Islanders.
Requirement: Action in accordance with Pilatus Britten-Norman Mandatory Service Bulletin BN- 2/SB.231 Issue 2.
Note: UK CAA AD 008-10-96 refers.
Compliance: Unless already accomplished, within 50 landings after 21 May 1998.
This amendment becomes effective on 21 May 1998.
Background: The action required by this Directive is to ensure that the bolts that attach the lower fitting of the main landing gear to the nacelle do not become thread bound. Due to skin thickness tolerances, bolts with only one washer installed can cause play to occur at the MLG bottom fitting. If play occurs in this area, it can cause cracks in the nacelle box structure.
Amendment 1 is issued in response to Issue 2 of the Requirement document.
The original issue of this airworthiness directive became effective on 24 April 1997.
