COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY
SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/BN-2/69 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Pilatus Britten-Norman BN-2 Series Aeroplanes
AD/BN-2/69
Amdt 1
Throttle Friction Adjuster 4/2003
Applicability: Model BN2, BN2A, BN2B, BN2T and BN2T-4 series Islander aircraft. Requirement: Action in accordance with Britten-Norman Service Bulletin (SB) BN2/SB.272 Issue
2.
Note: The UK CAA has deemed Britten-Norman SB BN2/SB.272 Issue 2 mandatory.
Compliance: Unless previously inspected in accordance with Britten-Norman SB BN2/SB.272 Issue 2 or earlier revision; within 10 flight hours from the effective date of this Directive. Thereafter at intervals not to exceed 200 flight hours.
This Amendment becomes effective on 17 April 2003.
Background: This Amendment details changes in requirements to only replace hardware as required, and an increase in the inspection interval.
This Directive was originally raised after a report of a throttle friction adjuster being loosened too far. This caused the split pin and washer on the end of the shaft to be broken.
The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 9 August 2000.
James Coyne
Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 14 February 2003
The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 26 March 2003.
