COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/BN-2/71 Amdt 3 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Main Landing Gear Oleo Attachment Bracket 7/2004
Applicability: All BN-2, BN2A, BN2B, BN2T, BN2T-4R, and BN2T-4S Islander aircraft. Requirement: Inspect in accordance with B-N Group Ltd. Mandatory Service Bulletin No. 273 Issue 5.

This Amendment becomes effective on 8 July 2004.
Background: Several operators reported cracking of the Oleo Attachment Bracket NB-40-0075. If cracking is not detected early, failure of the bracket can occur which could result in detachment of the main landing gear.
Amendment 1 expanded the repeat inspection interval.
Amendment 2 introduced a steel oleo attachment bracket as terminating action for the repeat inspection requirement.
Amendment 3 introduced Mod. NB-M-1712, which embodies an improved fitting for the main landing gear.
