COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY
SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Pilatus Britten-Norman BN-2 Series Aeroplanes
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/BN-2/72 Wing Access Panel 1/2001
Applicability: All BN2A, BN2B, and BN2T series Islander aircraft.
Requirement: Action in accordance with B-N Group Ltd. Mandatory Service Bulletin No. 274.
Compliance: At the next 1,000 hour inspection or Service Bulletin No. 190 inspection, whichever occurs first.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 25 January 2001.
Background: The manufacturer received reports of severe corrosion found in the wing box.
Installation of Modification NB-M-1594 allows easier access to the wing box for the two year inspection requirement, by creating bolted access panels at the existing riveted panel positions (because of enlargement of rivet holes through wear during rivet removal/refitment).
David Alan Villiers
Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 5 December 2000
The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 20 December 2000.
