COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Pilatus Britten-Norman BN-2 Series Aeroplanes
AD/BN-2/79 FHL Landing Gear Units 10/2003 DM
Applicability: All BN2, BN2A, BN2B, BN2T, BN2T-4R, and BN2T-4S series Islander aircraft fitted with FHL Landing Gear.
Requirement: Action in accordance with B-N Group Limited Service Bulletin SB 298.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document, with a Requirement document effective date of 20 August 2003.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 13 August 2003.
Background: The UK CAA and FHL have determined that there is no method or procedure for recording the fatigue lives on FHL landing gear. This Directive introduces fatigue lives to landing gear and landing gear components.
