AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Rolls Royce Germany Turbine Engines - BR700 Series
AD/BR700/2 Oil Filter Differential Switch 5/2003
Applicability: Rolls Royce BR700-710A1-10 and BR700-710A2-20 series engines with oil filter differential pressure switch part number (P/N) 21SN04-419 or -431 fitted:
1. For BR700-710A1-10 engines with serial numbers (S/N) up to and including 11336.
b. For BR700-710A2-20 engines with S/N up to and including 12259.
Note 1: These engines are installed on, but, not limited to Bombardier BD-700-1A10 and Gulfstream V aeroplanes.
Requirement: 1. Inspect the oil filter differential pressure switch to determine its serial number.
1. If the oil filter differential pressure switch is listed in Appendix 1 of Rolls- Royce Service Bulletin (S/B) BR700-79-900215 Revision 2, mark the switch in accordance with step (C) of Part 1, Accomplishment Instructions of Rolls- Royce S/B BR700-79-900215 Revision 2.
b. If the oil filter differential pressure switch is not listed in Appendix 1 of Rolls-Royce S/B BR700-79-900215 Revision 2, comply with Requirement 2 of this Directive.
2. Replace the oil filter differential switch in accordance with Part 2 of the Accomplishment Instructions of Rolls-Royce S/B BR700-79-900215 Revision 2.
Note 2: LBA AD 2000-257/2 refers.
Compliance: 1. Within 50 flight hours from the effective date of this Directive.
2. a. For oil filter differential switches with less than 200 flight hours time since new (TSN), within 50 flight hours from the effective date of this Directive.
b. For oil filter differential switches with more than 200 flight hours TSN, within 150 flight hours from the effective date of this Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 May 2003.

Background: Failure of the oil filter differential pressure switch has led to an in- flight shutdown of the engine. This Directive requires the replacement of certain oil filter differential pressure switches.
