COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/CA-6/3 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. C.A.C. CA-6 (Wackett Trainer) Series Aeroplanes AD/CA-6/3 Amdt 1 Main Plane Inspection 8/2001 Applicability: All models. Requirement: 1. Remove the fuel tanks and closely inspect front and rear spars for boom failures, web cracks or separation of the webs from booms. Also inspect the heavy ribs in this area for signs of structural damage or damage to the rib-to-spar joints. 2. Cut inspection holes in the No. 25 lower wing skin between ribs 8 and 9 port and starboard, and inspect the rear spar web in the vicinity of the undercarriage fittings for evidence of structural distress. 3. When inspecting booms, remove all varnish and thoroughly clean the woodwork or, alternatively, use the ink inspection technique or a 10X hand glass. 4. Repair damaged ribs or spars using a repair scheme approved under CAR 35. Compliance: Before further flight following each heavy landing. This amendment becomes effective on 9 August 2001. Background: This AD series is reinstated as the aircraft type has returned to the Aircraft Register. Amendment 1 is issued to update Requirement paragraph 4 to reflect current regulations. The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 15 August 1984.
