AD/PA-46/21 Empennage Skin Rivets 9/92
Applicability: Model PA-46-310P with serial numbers 46-8408001 through 46-8608067, and 4608001 through 4608140, and Model PA-46-350P with serial numbers 4622001 through 4622109.
Requirement: Replace the empennage countersunk rivets indicated in Piper SB 944, with universal head rivets of a larger diameter in accordance with the INSTUCTIONS section of Piper SB 944.
Note: FAA AD 92-13-07 Amdt 39-8277 refers.
Compliance: Within 100 hours time in service after 20 August 1992.
Background: General maintenance inspections of the empennage of the affected aircraft have revealed loose rivets working into the skin. Undetected loose rivets could eventually lead to a weakened aircraft structure.
