COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Piper PA-46 (Malibu) Series Aeroplanes
AD/PA-46/24 Bendix/King KAP 150/KFC 150 Flight Control Systems
12/92
Applicability: PA-46-310P Malibu and PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage aircraft with Bendix/King KAP 150/KFC 150 Flight Control Systems installed.
Requirement: Install a pitch servo cover kit, part number 050-03007-0000 in accordance with the instructions in Bendix/King Installation Bulletin No 312 dated 19 march 1990.
Note: FAA AD 92-18-08 Amendment 39-8352 refers.
Compliance: Within 90 days after 12 November 1992.
Background: The FAA has received reports of moisture causing corrosion on electronic circuit boards of the flight control system, the moisture having entered the circuit boards through the pitch servo. This moisture could possibly lead to undesired movement of the elevators. Compliance with this Directive will prevent moisture from entering the circuit board through the pitch servo. The effective date required by the FAA is extended by approximately one month for Australian registered aircraft.
