Hub Inspection and Rework 8/89
Applicability: McCauley model 1A103/TCM/6958 propeller serial number 770001 through 777390 and BC-001 up to but not including JA001 originally fitted to Cessna 152, A152, Reims F152 and FA152.
Requirement: Action in accordance with McCauley SB 169B.
Note: Propellers previously inspected in accordance with McCauley SB 169A (Amdt 1) require additional inspection as detailed in paragraphs 4 and 5 of McCauley SB 169B.
Compliance: For propellers with 1200 hours or more total time in service or if service history unknown inspect and rework propeller at next inspection for issue of a Maintenance Release after 30 June 1989.
Background: The manufacturer has received reports of two in-flight blade failures of affected propellers. Blade separation occurred in the area where the blade blended into the hub. Due to further blade failures the manufacturer has expanded the inspection to include the hub bolt holes.
