AD/PITTS S-2/7 Control Tube Assembly - Inspection and Modification

Applicability: All model S-2A.
Requirement: 1. Visually inspect the Control Tube Assembly P/No. 2-5100 for cracks at the junction of the control stick housing at the aft end of the tube where it is welded to the control tube.
Note: Remove paint from the inspection area and leave unpainted until modified.
2. Modify Control Tube Assembly P/No. 2-5100 in accordance with Pitts Aviation Enterprises Service Letter No. 5.
3. The repetitive inspection detailed in this Directive shall be entered on the maintenance release as maintenance required. The inspection may be performed by the pilot in command, in which case certification is not required. In all other cases certification may be made on the maintenance release. This inspection may also be performed and certified by any Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
Compliance: For Para. 1 - Inspect before each flight after 21 May 1975 until modified. For Para. 2 - Modify within 100 hours time in service after 21 May 1975.
