AD/PNEU/3 Garrett AiResearch Starters 3/93
Applicability: Garrett AiResearch Starters installed in (but not limited to) Boeing Models 707, 727 and 737 aircraft and McDonnell Douglas Models DC-9, DC-10 and DC-8 aircraft.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 92-16-06. Compliance: Effective 4 March 1993. Background: Improperly overhauled starters incorporating unauthorised repairs have been distributed by Classic Aircraft Aviation (USA). These have the potential for uncontained turbine wheel failures that could result in fire or loss of control of the aircraft. (Copies of the FAA AD listing relevant part and serial numbers are being distributed with this directive to the certificate of registration holders of affected aircraft type).
