AD/PT6A/30 Propeller Governor Assembly 4/2002
Applicability: All Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-60A and PT6A-65B engines fitted with propeller governor assemblies P/N 8210-212H.
Requirement: Replace applicable governor assemblies Woodward P/N 8210-212H with Woodward P/N 8210-310 in accordance with P&WC SB 13354.
Note 1: Canadian AD CF-2002-02 refers.
Note 2: Applicable governor assemblies can be reworked in accordance with Woodward Service Bulletin 83053-61-006.
Compliance: Within 6 months after the effective date of this Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 18 April 2002.
Background: There have been incidents of asymmetric thrust during landing on aircraft fitted with PT6A-60A engines. Asymmetric thrust on landing poses a safety hazard to personnel and/or equipment. Investigation showed that the asymmetric thrust was caused by one of the two propeller governors not moving to the ground idle pitch setting.
