Requirement: Install new fuel manifold transfer tubes and new lockplates in accordance with Pratt and Whitney Canada Service Bulletins, 21077R7 dated 10 October 1996 and 21373R3 dated 11 October 1996, respectively.
Note1: Later revisions of the referenced service bulletins or superseding service bulletins that meet the intent of the referenced service bulletins satisfy the requirements of this Directive.
Note2: Transport Canada AD CF-96-22 refers.
Compliance: Unless previously accomplished:-
(a) At the next engine shop visit; or
(b) No later than the next fuel nozzle change; or
(c) Prior to 30 November 1998; whichever occurs first.
This Directive becomes effective 27 February 1997.
Background: There have been reports of fuel leaks which have resulted in fire warnings and inflight shutdowns. The majority of these fuel leaks have occurred shortly after fuel manifold maintenance. The manufacturer has advised that the fuel manifold transfer tube lockplates are sensitive to installation errors and are a contributing factor to the fuel leaks.
