COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/PZL/6 Inspection of Safety Belts 7/2003

Applicability: All Models PZL M18, M18A, and M18B aircraft fitted with safety harnesses P/N D74.183.2L, D74.183.00.2P or D74.186.00.1 manufactured after 01 January 1994.

Requirement: Inspect and, if required, replace the safety harnesses in accordance with PZL Mandatory Service Bulletin E/02.184/2003.

Compliance: Before 24 July 2003.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 July 2003.

Background: The manufacturer has advised that some belt length adjusters have been found to have been incorrectly attached to the safety harness. Tests revealed that the incorrectly manufactured belts fail at less than the design strength.
