COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Robinson R44 Series Helicopters
AD/R44/4 Placard to Prohibit Pushovers 8/95 DM
Applicability: Model R44 helicopters.
Requirement: 1. Install a placard that contains the following statement in the helicopter in clear view of the pilots. The size and location of the placard must be such that it is clearly readable by the pilots:
LOW-G PUSHOVERS PROHIBITED
The placard specified in Robinson R44 SB 6 is an acceptable means of compliance, while a Dymo tape style placard is not.
2. A Flight Manual revision is required to the effect:
FLIGHT AND MANOEUVRE LIMITATIONS
Low-G cyclic pushovers are prohibited
Note: FAA Priority Letter AD 95-11-10 refers.
Compliance: Prior to further flight after 7 June 1995.
Background: A recent FAA analysis of manufacturers data indicated that a low-G cyclic pushover manoeuvre may result in mast-bumping on the Robinson Helicopter Company R44 helicopter.
