COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 106 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/RB211/29 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. Rolls Royce Turbine Engines - RB211 Series AD/RB211/29 Amdt 1 LP Compressor Blades 9/2002 Applicability: Rolls Royce RB211-524 Series engines listed in the requirement document. Requirement: Remove and inspect applicable fan blades in accordance with the procedures outlined in Rolls Royce Mandatory SB RB.211-72-D184 Rev 2. Note: UK CAA AD 005-04-2001 refers. Compliance: As detailed in the requirement document. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 5 September 2002. Background: This Directive has been issued to require the removal and inspection of certain serial numbers fan blades suspected of being damaged during a repair process. The damage has been assessed to reduce blade durability. Amendment 1 of this directive includes additional affected blade serial numbers and introduces a calendar time limit for compliance. Original issue of this directive became effective on 4 October 2001.
