SAAB Safir Series Aeroplanes
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/SAAB/4 Main Landing Gear Operation 8/2000
Applicability: All Safir 91A, 91B, 91B-2, 91C and 91D series aircraft.
Requirement: Inspect the main landing gear for correct function in accordance with procedures in Safir Service Bulletin 91.2.006 dated 28 April, 2000.
Note: Swedish Airworthiness Directive SAD No 1-154R1 refers.
Compliance: Unless previously accomplished, within 75 flights after the effective date of this Directive or by 30 April 2001, whichever occurs first.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 August 2000.
Background: The manufacturer has reported the unintentional collapse of the undercarriage after landing. This resulted in damage to the landing gear, aircraft structure, engine and propeller assembly.
