SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Shorts SD3-60 Series Aeroplanes
AD/SD3-60/58 Windshield Wiring 6/2001
Applicability: All SD3-60 series aeroplanes.
Requirement: 1. Inspect the heated windshield wiring for fouling and chafing in accordance with Part A of Short Brothers PLC Service Bulletin (SB) SD360-30-26 dated 2 April 2001.
2. If, during the Requirement 1 inspection, chafing of the windshield heating cable is detected or inadequate clearance is found between the cable and flight instruments:
1. repair or replace the cable in accordance with Part B or C (as applicable) of SB SD360-30-26, and/or
b. reposition the cable in accordance with Part A of SB SD360-30-26.
Note: SB SD360-30-26 has been classified as Mandatory by the CAA(UK).
Compliance: For Requirement 1 – At the next scheduled B check, but no later than 90 days after the effective date of this Directive.
For Requirement 2 - Before further flight after the Requirement 1 inspection has been completed.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 14 June 2001.
Background: Instances have been reported where electrical power cables to the heated windshields have been found to be fouling with the Flight Director Indicator behind the 1P panel and in some cases chafing has been evident.
This Directive requires the cables to be inspected and, if necessary, relocated and/or repaired.
