COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 107 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Seats and Berths
AD/SEATS/21 B/E Aerospace Seat - Hydrolock Pin Orientation 3/2002
Applicability: All B/E Aerospace Skyluxe II (AA2) passenger seats.
Note: The applicable seats are known to be installed in but not limited to Airbus A300, A300-600, A320, A321, A330 and A340 Series aircraft; Boeing 737-800, 747- 200, 747-300, 747-400, 767-200 and 767-300 Series aircraft.
Requirement: Inspect and re-orientate the Hydrolok retaining pin in accordance with B/E Aerospace Alert Service Bulletin 25-20-2658.
Note: CAA (UK) AD 002-11-2001 refers.
Compliance: Before 21 April 2002.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 21 March 2002.
Background: Under certain conditions the Hydrolok pin can migrate and disconnect from the seat structure resulting in the seat back having no rearward restraint and allowing it to rotate aft into the seat or exit pathway behind.
