COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES SAAB SF340 Series Aeroplanes AD/SF340/49 Amdt 1 Brakes 7/97 Applicability: Model SF 340A with serial numbers 004 through 159. Model 340B with serial numbers 160 and subsequent. Requirement: Action in accordance with attachment 1 and 2 of SAAB Service Bulletin 340-32-105. Note 1: Incorporation of SAAB Service Bulletin SAAB 340-32-110 with attachments 1 and 2, allow for removal of the heat shield. Note 2: LFV AD 1-075 R1 refers. Compliance: As specified in the Requirement Document with revised initial inspection times for attachments 1 and 2, of 10 November 1995 and 14 November 1995, respectively; and thereafter in accordance with the Requirement document until SAAB Service Bulletin SAAB 340-32-106 is accomplished. The compliance of the initial issue of this Directive remains unchanged for the initial inspection requirement. Additional information is added to the compliance statement by this issue. This Amendment becomes effective on 19 June 1997. Background: Reports were received of brake stationary disc failures. These failures further resulted in wheel collapse, a brake fire, and the inability to retract the main landing gear. Amendment 1 is issued in response to a revision of the related LFV AD which introduces SB 340-32-110 to allow for removal of the brake heat shield. The original issue of this airworthiness directive became effective on 10 November 1995.
