COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
SAAB SF340 Series Aeroplanes
AD/SF340/55 Amdt 1
Lavatory Waste Bin Extinguisher 13/98
Applicability: Model SF340A with serial numbers SF340A-121, and -125 through -159 and Model 340B with serial numbers 340B-160 through -360; with a fire extinguisher installed in the forward lavatory, part number 55-373 (with external service).
Requirement: Action in accordance with SAAB Aircraft Service Bulletin 340-25-235.
Note: LFV AD 1-106R1 refers.
Compliance: Unless already accomplished, before 27 June 1997.
The compliance of the initial issue of this Directive remains unchanged. This Amendment becomes effective on 3 December 1998. Background: The capillary tube of the waste bin fire extinguisher in the forward lavatory has been found to be fractured / bent during maintenance inspections. This damage has caused the discharge of the extinguisher, and consequently no fire protection of waste bin contents as required by AD/GENERAL/48. This Directive requires certain actions to prevent capillary tube damage.
Amendment 1 is issued in response to a revision of the related LFV AD issued to limit applicability.
The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 27 March 1997.
