AD/SF340/64 Landing Gear Electrical Relay 15GA 7/98 Applicability: SAAB 340B series aeroplanes with serial numbers 380 through 499 inclusive. Requirement: Perform the following actions in accordance with SAAB Aircraft AB Service Bulletin SAAB 340-32-115 dated 7 April 1998:
1. inspect relay 15GA, the relay socket and related wiring harness,
b. change the nut-plate (captive nuts) in the flight deck floor,

d. functional test of the active noise system, and
e. operational test of the fluorescent lamps.
Note: LFV AD 1-125 refers.
Compliance: Within 400 hours time in service from the effective date of this directive.
This airworthiness directive becomes effective on 18 June 1998.
Background: The Swedish airworthiness authority has received a number of reports of landing gear control circuit breaker 7GA opening, thus preventing normal landing gear extension which may result in the landing gear not being locked down. This is caused by a short-circuit in relay 15GA. Further investigation has determined that fluid leaking through carpet attachment holes on the cockpit floor is contaminating the relay.
