SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
SAAB SF340 Series Aeroplanes
AD/SF340/89 Nacelle Internal Structure 3/2003
Applicability: Model SF340A aircraft, serial numbers 004 through 159.
Model 340B aircraft, serial numbers 160 through 459.
Requirement: Inspect in accordance with Saab Aircraft Mandatory Service Bulletin (SB) No. 340- 54-043 dated 18 December 2002, or SB No. 340-54-043 Revision 1 dated 16 January
2003.
Note: LFV AD No. 1-176 refers.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of 20 March 2003.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 20 March 2003.
Background: Field experience has revealed cracks in the outer flange of engine nacelle frame STA 203 and WL96. The affected area is inspected using a NDT method, due to
in-accessibility.
