AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Iniziative Industriali Italiane Sky Arrow 650 Series Aeroplanes
AD/SKY ARROW/2 Engine Mount 2/2003 DM
Applicability: All Model 650TC, 650TCN, 650TCS, and 650TCNS aircraft.
Requirement: Inspect and modify in accordance with Iniziative Industriali Italiane Service Bulletin No. SB-C 01/02, dated 15 October 2002.
Note: ENAC AD 2002-590 refers.
Comp liance: Inspect within 10 hours time in service after 18 December 2002, unless already accomplished. Thereafter at each scheduled 100 hour maintenance inspection, until the required modification is accomplished.
If cracks are detected, accomplish the modification before further flight. Modify before 31 December 2003. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 18 December 2002.
Background: The manufacturer received reports of crack initiation on the engine mount of aircraft with high operating time on grass airfields and training school aircraft affected by hard landings.
