Landing Gear Dampers 7/89
Applicability: All models S205-18/R, 20/R, 22/R. S208 and S208A. Requirement: Action in accordance with SIAI Marchetti SB No. 205B49A. Note: RAI AD 89-28/S205-43, S208-17 Rev 2 refers.
Compliance: 1. Within 100 hours time in service after 31 August 1979 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 500 hours time in service.
2. Replace the shock absorber units with new units for:
1. Shock absorber units with greater than 5 years from date of manufacture or 1000 hours time in service; within six months or 50 hours time in service after 13 July 1989 whichever is earlier.
b. Shock absorber units with less than 5 years from date of manufacture or 1000 hours time in service; prior to accumulating 5 years or 1000 hours time in service whichever is the earlier.
Background: Deformation and cracking of the rubber damper assemblies may interfere with the down locking action of the main landing gear. Amendment 1 mandates the manufacturers life limit on the shock absorber units.
