Eurocopter AS 332 (Super Puma) Series Helicopters
AD/S-PUMA/18 Main Rotor Blade De-Icers 9/95
Applicability: All AS 332 helicopters versions C, C1, L and L1 equipped with de-iced main rotor blades Part Number (P/N) 332A11-030-03 and 332A11-030-04.
Requirement: Modify rotor blades P/N 332A11-030-03 and 332A11-030-04 in accordance with Eurocopter France AS 332 Telex Service 01-42 dated 17 January 1995.
Note: DGAC France AD 95-029-054(B) refers.
Compliance: The modification is to be incorporated in accordance with the following table:
Rotor Blade Total Time in Service (TIS)
Time Limit for Modification
greater than 2000 hours within 50 hours TIS after 17 August 1995
1850 to 2000 hours on reaching 2050 hours TIS
1500 to 1850 hours within 200 hours TIS after 17 August 1995
1400 to 1500 on reaching 1700 hours TIS
700 to 1400 hours within 300 hours TIS after 17 August 1995
less than 700 hours within 1000 hours TIS after 17 August 1995 Background: Eurocopter advised that main rotor blade de-icing system electrical return braids have
been found partially damaged. If complete failure of the braid occurred, depending on the braid damaged, this could result in the loss of the de-icing function on two or three heating strips and normal rotor blade de-icing conditions would no longer be ensured. Action specified by this Directive is intended to ensure the integrity of the rotor blade de-icing system.
