COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. Eurocopter AS 332 (Super Puma) Series Helicopters AD/S-PUMA/48 Hydraulic Reservoir Fittings 5/2003 Applicability: AS 332 helicopters, versions C, C1, L and L1 delivered from the manufacturer before 1 January 2003. Requirement: 1. Identify the hydraulic adapter fitted to the right hand hydraulic reservoir in accordance with Paragraph 2.B.1 through 2.B.3 of Eurocopter Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) 67.00.25. 2. Replace any hydraulic adapter fittings identified in Paragraph 2.B.2 of Eurocopter (ASB) 67.00.25 in accordance with Paragraph 2.B.4 of Eurocopter Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) 67.00.25. Note 1: DGAC AD 2003-101(A) refers Note 2: Hydraulic fittings required for replacement are those manufactured prior to the year 2002 and not identified by a yellow paint mark. Compliance: 1. a. Within 30 days from the effective date of this Directive. b. Prior to installation of the hydraulic adapter in an aircraft. 2. Before further flight following the identification of the hydraulic adapter fitting. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 May 2003. Background: Certain hydraulic adaptors are prone to cracking. Cracking of the adapter can lead to failure of the hydraulic system, which will lead to loss of hydraulic power assistance to the flight controls.
