Requirement: Remove and discard the rudder cable to rudder pedal link attachment bolts and bushings, and accomplish the following in accordance with the instructions in either Swearingen Aviation Corporation SB 27-027, or Fairchild SB 27-09, whichever is applicable, and the applicable maintenance manual:
(a) Inspect the rudder pedal links, part number 26-72016, for elongated holes.
(b) Replace any rudder pedal links that have elongated holes.
(c) Install new rudder pedal link attachment bolts and bushings.

Compliance: Upon the accumulation of 5,000 hours time in service or within the next 50 hours time in service after 4 February 1993, whichever occurs later, unless already accomplished within the last 5,000 hours time in service; thereafter at intervals not to exceed 5,000 hours time in service.
The compliance of the previous issue remains essentially unchanged. This Amendment is effective from 4 February 1993.
Background: Wear, which may not be readily discernible, can occur in the bolts which connect the rudder cables to the rudder pedal torque tube. Amendment 1 is issued in response to the FAA determination that certain SA227 series aircraft should be affected by the actions currently required by AD 81-02-01, which was the reason for the initial issue of this Directive.
