The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Fairchild (Swearingen) SA226 and SA227 Series Aeroplanes
AD/SWSA226/94 Amdt 1
Boost Pump Wiring 4/2004
Applicability: Model SA 226-AT, SA226-T, SA226-T(B), SA226-TC, SA227-AC (C-26A), SA227- AT, SA227-BC (C-26A), SA227-CC, SA227-DC (C-26B), SA227-PC and SA227- TT aeroplanes, all serial numbers.
Requirement: If not previously accomplished, protect the left and right hand main/auxiliary fuel boost pump wiring in accordance with the following Fairchild Aircraft Service Letter, as applicable:
226- SL-023 dated 6 September 2000 or Revision 1 dated 25 September 2000 227- SL-039 dated 6 September 2000 or Revision 1 dated 25 September 2000 CC7-SL-031 dated 6 September 2000 or Revision 1 dated 25 September 2000
Note: FAA AD 2003-19-10 Amdt 39-13313 refers.
Compliance: At the next removal of the fuel boost pump, but no later than six months or 1200 hours time in service, which ever occurs first, after the effective date of this Directive.
This Amendment becomes effective on 15 April 2004.
Background: The original issue of this Directive required the protection of the boost pump wiring to prevent chafing or damage to wiring in the fuel tanks which could result in electrical arcing and/or fire in the fuel tank. Protection of the wiring provides terminating action for the repetitive inspection requirements of AD/SWSA 226/88.
