COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 106 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Honeywell International Turbine Engines - T5508D Series

AD/T5508D/1 Inner Bevel Gear 7/2003

Applicability: Honeywell (Avco Lycoming) T5508D turboshaft engines fitted with engine accessory inner bevel gear Part Number (P/N) 2-070-005-02.

Requirement: Replace the engine accessory inner bevel gear Part Number P/N 2-070-005-02 with gear P/N 2-070-030-01 in accordance with Avco Lycoming service bulletin No. 5508-0013.

Note: FAA AD 78-07-04 refers.

Compliance: Prior to issue of an Australian certificate of airworthiness.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 July 2003.

Background: Replacement of the gear will prevent fatigue failure of the engine accessory inner bevel gear, which will lead to engine failure.
