COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Aerospatiale (Socata) TB20 (Trinidad) Series Aeroplanes
AD/TB20/44 MLG Hinged Strut 12/2003 DM
Applicability: Model TB 20 and TB 21 aircraft, serial numbers 1 through 2208 that have accumulated less than 50 flight hours or 50 landings, whichever occurs first, since delivery or since hinged strut or lower half-leg replacement; and
Hinged struts and lower half-legs supplied as spares until 15 September 2003.
Requirement: Action in accordance with Socata Service Bulletin TB No. 10-139, dated September 2003.
Note: DGAC AD 2003-390(A) refers.
Compliance: Within 5 flight hours after 22 October 2003.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 22 October 2003.
Background: Reports were received of two cases of uncrimping of the bearing that connects the landing gear hinged strut to the landing gear leg.
