AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/TBM 700/22 Cabin Drainage 13/2000
Applicability: All TBM 700 aircraft without Socata modification MOD 70-109-53 "Cabin drain valve" incorporated.
Requirement: Replace the strainer drain system in the area of frame C10, by a valve with a larger drain hole in accordance with Socata TBM 700 Service Bulletin 70-082-53.
Note: DGAC AD 2000-373(A) refers.
Compliance: Within 110 hours time in service after 28 December 2000 or before 28 February 2001, whichever occurs first.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 28 December 2000.
Background: The DGAC received a report of jamming of the elevator servocontrol due to icing.
The aircraft had been exposed to heavy precipitation on the ground and water that had accumulated in the fuselage had not cleared due to clogging of a drain hole.
