AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/TBM 700/25 Propeller Governor Control Cable 3/2001 DM
Applicability: TBM 700 aircraft not incorporating Socata Modification 70-121-76 or Service Bulletin TBM 700 No 70-084-76.
Requirement: Install a thermal protection sleeve to the propeller governor flexible control cable in accordance with Socata Alert Service Bulletin, TBM 700 No 70-084-76.
Note: DGAC AD 2000-430(A) refers.
Compliance: No later than 26 February 2001.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 31 January 2001.
Background: This Directive is prompted by advice that the internal sleeve of the propeller governor flexible control cable can harden and jam the propeller controls. This condition could prevent propeller speed changes and propeller feathering.
William Ronald Smith
Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 23 January 2001
The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 31 January 2001.
