AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Univair Corporation Ercoupe, Forney, Alon, and Mooney M10 Series Aeroplanes
AD/UNIVAIR/3 Fuel Line Nipple 7/2003
Applicability: All ERCO Model 415-C, 415-CD, 415D, 415-E and 415-G aeroplanes and all Forney Model F-1 and F-1A aeroplanes that have a gascolator connected to the side of the carburettor.
Note 1: This Directive does not affect those aeroplanes with a gascolator mounted on the firewall.
Requirement: 1. Inspect the fuel line nipple and elbow located between the carburetor and gascolator for cracks or misalignment.
2. Replace any faulty components and/or fittings detected during Requirement 1 of this Directive, in accordance with Univair Service Bulletin (S/B) No. 24B.
3. Replace any aluminum fuel line nipple with one made of brass or steel in accordance with Univair S/B No. 24B.
4. Replace any aluminum fuel line elbow fitting with one made of brass or steel in accordance with Univair S/B No. 24B.
5. Inspect for the existence of double support tubes on the gascolator and install these tubes if they do not exist, in accordance with Univair S/B No. 24B as follows:
