COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/W620/1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. Weatherly 620 Series Aeroplanes AD/W620/1 Amdt 1 Wing Fatigue Life Limitation 8/2002 Applicability: All Models. Requirement: Retire the following items from service before the times shown: Item Life Limit Wing Main Spar Lower Cap Assembly 2500 hours time in service Steel Wing Attachment Fittings 5000 hours time in service. Compliance: This Amendment becomes effective on 8 August 2002. Background: As a result of a request for review of this Directive, the fatigue lives of the wing main spar lower cap assembly and steel wing attachment fittings have been increased in line with a fatigue substantiation report provided by the manufacturer. The Authority is willing to consider submissions which substantiate that fatigue can safely be controlled by inspection beyond the life limits stipulated by this directive. This will require evidence, from analysis, test or service experience, that any proposed inspection program looks in the right places, in the right way, at the right times. Acceptable standards are CAO 101.22.3.61 or FAR 23.573(b). The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 18 November 1992.
